Beatrice Kaldun

Beatrice Kaldun has an academic background in Chinese Studies, Art History and Anthropology and holds a Master of Arts in these disciplines from the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich (Germany), as well as an undergraduate degree in Chinese Studies from Cambridge University. Following her studies, she worked with TUI – International as tour manager in China and as research assistant at the Palace Museum in Taipei. Beatrice joined UNESCO in 1995 as Associate Expert in Culture under the Regional Advisor for Culture in Asia and the Pacific at the UNESCO Office Bangkok, Thailand where she developed the regional culture programme together with the Regional Advisor, with particular focus on World Heritage, tourism, intangible heritage, arts and crafts, creativity and development. From 1997 to October 2004 Beatrice continued her work at UNESCO Office Bangkok as long-term consultant concerned with both the regional culture programme as well as looking after the culture concerns of the Member States of the Bangkok Cluster. She helped coordinate a number of projects and programmes such as the Seal of Excellence for Handicraft Products in Asia. Beatrice joined UNESCO Office Beijing as Culture Programme Specialist in October 2004 where she is now responsible for the culture programme for the East Asia Cluster.

    Will she be available as a resource person to speak on the role of culture and the arts in the cross-cultural dialogue on climate change in Asia and Europe? We are planning to conduct a conference in the Philippine next year. Thank you !
